It is the same at Sweetwater beach, but usually they close down sooner, at the first sign of the weather getting worse, or when the number of visitors is getting low. I don't want to be hauling tarps, umbrellas etc to Sweetwater Beach and wondered how late the loungers and umbrellas are available for rent. I noticed last year that that stuff disappears from Vrissi beach in late October. Is it the same at Sweetwater?

And by the way, Asfendou has no water either. But or therefore, people do not stay there anymore, the village is deserted.. however, in Kallikratis they do stay. We do hope though, that when the water supply problem is seriously addressed, that there will also be watersupply to Asfendou. Of the signatures we got last night, quite some were from Asfendou.. even though they do not live there, they feel that its their village..

I'd liked to mention the Kallikratis' water problem and the online petition in a German speaking Crete-Forum (Kreta-Forum.eu). Do you agree, that I translate your first posting for this purprose?

I went several times to Kallikratis and like the place very much. I really was not aware, that there is no water supply. What about Asfendos? Don't they have either?

I am not a net wizard at all, but need makes a mouse fly....As for the petition you mentioned, its one we have signed as well, I had another look at their text... didn't seem that official either, but collected 7000 + votes.. impressive..
We now have some lamb in the oven, its almost ready and we're hungry... so a break for food.. this water story now is taking all our time...

I think, that the basics will be the signatures of the locals, backed up by an online petition with a more international touch (tourists coming to Sfakia, living in rooms with running water, maybe even with swimmingpools, being surprised and supportive when knowing the problems of the region). We have quite a lot of people coming by here in Kallikratis during the summer, they maybe stay at Frangokastello and take a trip either by car, or walk through the gorge.. they often ask, why the pickup trucks all have containers??
They are all amazed to learn, that this village has no water supply...
