Phots and info excellent. Took a while to get to you. The computer often says it can't read the script??? And hard to continue. However, we learned more about accommodations in Sfakia on this site than any other and believe me I have spent numerous hours searching the web. I beleive we will end up coming to Sfakia in a few weeks on our way to Chania. Thanks and any additional suggestions of where to stay would be appreicated. My wife and I look forward to our visit. My ancestors are from Sfakia, and I'll never forget the time I visited with my cousin Andonis to "find our roots". The land was rugged and beautiful. We found a local historian who showed us pictures of our great grandfather and great great grandfather. A wonderful experience, and the best tsikoudia on Crete!

Great website, full of information not least the bus and ferry timetables which is sometimes diffucult to source locally.I still remember Stellios, who has lived all his life in Paleohora assuring me you could get a ferry all the way from Paleohora to Plakias, (not the case). Now I use your website to check all my travel requirements before I leave home. Top marks to everyone involved in the creation of this website and I hope everyone working in tourism in the south west of Crete is aware of its existance.

I do not agree with you that the history of Crete starts at Sfakia. You are a big head and you are not beleivable. Please come down to earth. I think that your Crete flag should fly more often in Crete.
Webmaster's comment: Thanks for your anonimous comment. We have never stated that Crete's history started at Sfakia. Only that by studying the history of Sfakia it could be exemplary of the history of all of Crete.

I loved this site! I have been doing research on my ancestry and this site has been very helpful! As you can see, my last name is sfakis, shortened from Sfakianakis which I've been told means "from Sfakia" I am now wondering if perhaps my ancestors were dorian as I am very fair skinned, have blue eyes and blonde hair..
