"I have travelled the world alone for two decades playing my pipes at the lost, forgotten and remote war graves. These journeys started in Crete and took me to over 100 war cemeteries worldwide. My journeys have all been to pay tribute to the soldiers, sailors and airmen who gave their lives that I may be free to travel as I do.
2008 will see what could well be my last pilgrimage ( I am 73 years of age now). This journey will be different in that I will be travelling with my wife and paying tribute to the civilian Cretans who stood against tyranny to shout "NO SURRENDER" and died for their courage. I will be quietly visiting towns and villages whose people paid such a piece for my freedom.
My visit to Hora Sfakia will entail my playing of the tune GOING HOME and castin a wreath into the harbour. ARE THEY STILL REMEMBERED TODAY ?"
