By accident a shark of 150 kilos and over 4 metres long has been caught near Gavdos, a "bigeye thresher shark", Alopias
superciliosus.

"This is particularly interesting, as I am not aware of any
previous records for this species from Greek waters / Crete, although it
does range through southern-western-central parts of the Mediterranean, i.e, off north Africa, Sicily and Malta."
