Most people who have a fondness of Crete -whether Cretans living abroad or fanatics who visit Crete on a regular basis- have some difficulties to overcome the winter period. Crete seems to be so far away... This page is an attempt to provide some 'Winter Therapy' for the Cretan fans. It's a (growing) collection of items, which can be enjoyed to cure the pain. Suggestions are welcome here. |

Aromatherapy: I have never tried this treatment officially. The one I have experienced and am addicted to, is the aroma that comes through the door of the aircraft when they are opened on landing at the airport in Kriti. There is something most beneficial in that treatment.

| Just to remind everyone you can combine Crete's magical aromas, with a real aromatherapy treatment after March 2001, my mother is practicing aromatherapy and reflexology in Hersonnisos. | Selena | |

Yes Allan, its a most welcoming scent but for the most beneficial effect must be followed up as soon as possible with the taste of a cold Amstel for confirmation that one has arrived ;-) Tim |

Minimize maybe but overcome the pain ? Some task you have set yourself. I guess for a start we can follow the practice of some old hands and plan to surround ourselves with adequate quantities of raki, honey, paximadia etc etc Tim |

Yassas from Scotland! Wonderful site - we love it! Winter blues already as it is dark in Edinburgh by 4 30 every night. Visiting your site has cheered us up and I think I'll come back regularly.Efharisto poli Dave, Pat and Christie I am going to check your site regular. I am 10 miles south of Glasgow Scotland and can echo the sentiments of the Edinburgh fans. . . . very cold here and dark at 1600 hours. I was in Elounda recently . . not bad, but I prefer the South . . . Plakias, Mirtos, Frangokasello, Chora Sfakion, Sougia, Paleochora, etc. More power to your elbow . . . and . . . lang may yir lum reek . . . wi' ither folks logs! Jimmy I must stay very close to Jimmy. I am in Motherwell, Scotland. I have visited Crete at least twice in each of the last 20 years. My favourite place is a small village near Matala called Kamilari. If you like quiet Crete I can highly recommend this place. Winter therapy? Amstel, Raki from the freezer, read the Cretan Runner or the Battle for Crete. And, of course, look at the photographs. Graham |

| Bravo, Graham - Memories of Kamilari. What a view from one of the hilltops, say just before nightfall. Take the one with the rooms for rent (Greek-German couple) on utmost hilltop, walk up past Sifoyannis' rooms. Enjoy the panorama from Mt. Psiloritis to the Messara, on to the Asteroussia Mts. and to the western sea. Millions of olive trees and the sound of countless crickets. Pure happiness. Cheers from another 20-year-Crete-aficionado. | Martin from Munich | |
